Farm Camp

Farm Camp was in full force last week here at the EEC.  Twenty students from an Akron Boys & Girls Club enjoyed a week of history, harvest, animal care, and even farm chores!  Based out of the Stanford House, Hale Farm and Village, and the EEC, students got a well rounded picture of farming in the Cuyahoga Valley.  Students got to tour and work on some of the Countryside Conservancy’s farms as well.   Here are some pictures showing highlights from the week…

Planting…

Planting beans at Neitenbach farm.

Animal Care…

Feeding the oxen at Hale Farm.

Cooking…

Making fresh salsa from the harvest.

Tasting…

Food challenge! Blindfolded students guess which foods are local and which ones are from the grocery store.

Our second week of Farm Camp starts next week along with Jr Ranger Day Camp.
